Happy Holidays 2013

We were dreaming of a white Christmas here at WINC and now our dreams have become a reality. We now have paint on the walls and are one step closer to finishing our new space! We would like to thank our 19th WINC class and all the volunteers from Ohio State University and Oregon for their hard work. We appreciated all your help very much.

We would like to wish Kaiser, GCCDS, J.O. Collins, our Moore Communty House family and all other partners a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year. Thank you again to everyone involved for making 2013 one of our best years yet!

WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION BUILD 2013

This year the Women in Construction Program partnered with Kaiser Permanente for the Second Annual Women's Build to construct a new and improved training center, renovating the current space and adding an open air shop space. Providing architectural design services is the Gulf Coast Community Design Studio (GCCDS) and overseeing construction of the space is J.O. Collins, a local family owned commercial contractor with great care for preservation of our rich and vibrant Gulf Coast community. Kaiser volunteers joined us for a week in October to preform the bulk of the work including the huge task of building 40 monster trusses. This legacy project is still under construction and will greatly improve facilities in order to better serve and impact all women and their children for generations to come. This project is an dream come true for everyone involved with the WinC program and the community at large and speaks volumes to the women in the community, that there are opportunities in their neighborhood and that they are worth the investment.
